Asquith Girls HS International Women's Day Breakfast
About
For over 20 years, AGHS has hosted an International Women's Day Breakfast to honour past progress and support present efforts to achieve equality including future initiatives to ensure change occurs for all women. The global campaign theme this year is ‘#InspireInclusion’.
All funds raised are donated to Mahboba's Promise, an organisation established in 2001 by Mahboba Rawi, an Afghan refugee who is now an Australian citizen, providing responsive, adaptable and impactful assistance directly to orphans and widows in Afghanistan. They have implemented health, education, income and other livelihood programs, including establishing schools, shelters, social enterprise businesses, farms, and maternity facilities in Afghanistan, while also offering ongoing support to vulnerable families, widows and orphans. Recently, they have been providing support to newly arrived Afghan refugees, empowering and uplifting them as they integrate into the broader Australian and Afghan communities.
