If your home is pre-1980’s there will be asbestos. If you are a Do It Yourself operator, be careful. A gardener? Even your mulch can contain asbestos. Over 3000 products are impregnated with asbestos.
In the 1980’s Asbestos products were banned. Disallowed industrially. Now it is women and children increasingly at risk.
Melita Markey, CEO of the Asbestos Diseases Society, which has aided sufferers and their families for well over forty years, is a world expert on the dreaded disease. Speaking last month on the BBC, Sky News and currently a documentary on the sad fact that WA leads the world in Asbestos and Mesothelioma Deaths, it also leads the world on research.
