Nunzio Cristaudo is an Associate Director at the University of Queensland, at the forefront of manufacturing research and infrastructure. He leads UQ’s Advanced Manufacturing Technologies Enterprise Research Partnerships portfolio at the interface of industry, government and universities to bring together manufacturing solutions and large-scale research collaborative opportunities across a range of disciplines, including critical minerals, cellular therapies, food and agriculture, energy, environment, defence, and other enabling industries and digital technologies. He joins UQ after an extensive career in state and federal government, with expert knowledge of industry manufacturing technologies, government policy development, international trade, strategic partnerships, and advocacy work. Notably, he was instrumental in policy development and law reforms to support government priorities, including the development and implementation of pivotal government industry-focused national initiatives, and negotiating complex agreements with infrastructure providers and international private sector investors. Energetic and value-led, Nunzio delivers outcomes through high levels of engagement and collaboration. Nunzio contributes substantially to UQ’s commitment to accelerate Australia’s advanced manufacturing capability by fostering research partnerships that drive real-world impact on a global scale.

Gareth Keen, Senior Manager Engineering at Cook Medical, has over 25 years of engineering and operations experience across a diverse range of industries. Beginning his career as a fitter-turner, he transitioned into management roles before completing his Bachelor of Engineering in 2008. From 2008 to 2011, Gareth served as Maintenance Superintendent/Mechanical Engineer in the mining sector where he optimised maintenance strategies and executed major plant improvements. Gareth then moved into the food industry in a transformational role as a regional Operations Manager in B2B manufacturing. Here, Gareth led operations transformation in Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery utilising continuous improvement principles. After 7 years in the food industry, Gareth transitioned to the not-for-profit sector as a Regional Operations Manager in disability employment in manufacturing from 2019 to 2021, In this role Gareth enhanced business sustainability and fostered positive stakeholder relationships which improved work outcomes for people with intellectual disabilities. Currently, as Senior Manager - Engineering at COOK Medical, as the leader of continuous improvement at COOK Australia he helps drives operational excellence through local and global collaboration with a strong focus on best practice and automation. Throughout his career, Gareth’s leadership style places a strong emphasis on collaboration, communication, striving to continually improve which his reflected in his dedication to achieving operational success.
