Long-term planning is essential in any business, yet it often gets put on the backburner because you are too busy doing the ‘real work’ of the business, or because it seems so daunting and complicated. In this 90-minute seminar you’ll discover the key elements of a strategic plan and write a simple draft ‘strategic plan-on-a-page’ to use in your business.

In this session you will gain an overview of the ‘strategy landscape’:

1. The strategic planning process - it’s the same no matter how big or small your business is!
2. Strategy formulation is like getting to the top of a mountain – you need to plan to achieve success:

• Why do you want to get to the top of mountains? (Purpose/mission)
• Where do you want to go? Which mountain? (Vision)
• Where do you want to get to each day/week/year? (Goals and objectives)
• What is the environment? Grassy? Icy? Desert? (Environmental analysis)
• How will you get there? Walk? Mountain bike? Camel? Build a road and drive? (Strategies)
• What tools/equipment/training will you need? Ropes? Boots? Fitness? (Resources)
• What’s important to you and your travelling companions along the way? (Values)

Presenter Bio: Vanessa North

I help people to build better business relationships, lead from a position of generosity, and take a collaborative approach to working with others, so that their business and people flourish. I have a keen interest in assisting people to achieve their goals and learn new things that transform their work and life (and to have fun while doing it!). I have worked in executive, leadership, consultancy, and training roles for over 20 years in the public and private sectors, in health, universities, and TAFE, in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
