Welcome to the Simpson Barracks Expo 2024!
Join us for a day filled with interesting and engaging military displays and demonstrations. Explore the displays, interact with soldiers, and learn about their daily lives. Witness thrilling demonstrations and enjoy this fantastic opportunity to experience military life up close and personal.
Entry is via Blamey Road off Greensborough Highway, Macleod - limited free car parking off base will be available.
Drop off area and turn around point located at entry point on Blamey Road.
Courtesy shuttle buses will also be available to and from Watsonia Train Station.
OPEN DAY TICKETING (FREE EVENT)
Ticketing is required for entry onto Simpson Barracks.
Tickets are valid for an allocated one hour time slot only.
Each time slot will be allocated a coloured wrist band. It is a requirement that these be worn by all attendees during your time slot.
Conditions of Entry:
- Ticket and identification (school ID accepted for U18) must be presented upon entry to Simpson Barracks for the selected time.
- Individual Entry Tickets are required to be ordered for all attendees over the age of 2 years old.
- Entry to the base is limited to pedestrian access only - no bicycles or vehicles will be permitted to enter the establishment.
- No alcohol is permitted on base.
- Bag searches will be conducted on entry or on request.
- Probihibited or dangerous items will not be allowed to enter the premises. These items include but are not limited to weapons, surveillance equipment, items that may cause a disturbance etc.

History
Simpson Barracks (formerly known as Watsonia Army Camp in the suburb of Yallambie) is a 55 acre base, located approximately 18 klm northeast of the Melbourne CBD. The property comprises military barracks, schools, administrative buildings, workshop and service areas and training buildings. The base is also host to the Army Communications training centre.
Named after Major General Colin Hall Simpson, Signals Officer-in-Charge of Allied Land Forces during the Second World War.
The Royal Australian Army Corps of Signals Museum and Royal Australian Army Pay Corps Museum are located at Simpson Barracks.
