The Boîte presents Suitcase 1: Lauren Sheree & Jad Pinnone
Jad Pinnone
Anchored by a resonant voice, exhibiting the best of a storyteller and expressing his influences stemming from his Shilha Moroccan and Italian cultural roots, Australia’s Jad Pinnone is a sonic poet, blending alternative ambient blues, folk and soulful R&B-infused maqam chants with Moroccan folklore and spiritual Gnawa music. Enchanting and distinctive, Jad Pinnone creates hypnotic soundscapes with dreamy, atmospheric elements that transport the listener to a world of his own.
With an innate and authentic energy, Jad Pinnone paints soaring, honest portraits through profound lyrics and charisma and creates a sound that is completely his own.
Lauren Sheree
Lauren Sheree (she/they) is an artist and musician hailing from Wakka Wakka Country and now based on Wurundjeri land in Melbourne. Since relocating to Naarm in 2016, Lauren has immersed herself in the vibrant arts scene, leaving a mark as a multi-talented creative force. As a musician, Lauren’s journey began in Melbourne in 2019, when she learnt to play the ukulele to get over a fear of singing in front of people. Lauren’s love of music blossomed when she attended an open mic night at the Retreat Hotel in Brunswick and was invited to a jam session at Bakehouse Studio. It was there that she formed her current band, including several members of The Deans of Soul. Lauren’s musical talents have graced stages at events like Brunswick Music Festival, Live at the Bowl @ Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and Yirramboi Festival, solidifying her status as an up-and-coming musician.
'Suitcase' is a music performance series curated as part of The Boite's Portfolio program 2024.
