Join us to celebrate the launch of the unique memoirs, Beyond the Siege of Leningrad: One Woman’s Life during and after the Occupation: The Recollections of Evdokiia Vasil’evna Baskakova-Bogacheva. A Soviet doctor residing near Leningrad, Evdokiia endured the hellscape of Nazi occupation as a civilian from 1941 to 1943 in a depopulated city. Her unlikely memoirs, written in Australia and forgotten in archives for decades, tell the story of tough survival against all odds, and the many challenges and grave choices civilians faced in the vicinity of besieged Leningrad.
