GERMAN MASTERS - VOCALECTIVE CONCERT
About
Vocalective showcases choral works by 19th century German composers Bruckner, Brahms, & Beethoven. The choir accompanied by orchestra, marks Anton Bruckner’s 200th birthday by performing some of his small-scale works. Best-known for his symphonies, these works have polarised opinions of him. Brahms described them as “symphonic boa constrictors”, while another described them as written “like a drunkard”. Bruckner has also been written off over the years, partly due to his odd personality & rather weird habits. Devotees however, point to his majestic & harmonically rich musical language.Johannes Brahms’ Song of Destiny, contrasts the lives of eternally blissful Immortals enjoying “luminous, heavenly breezes” with restless human beings being subject to cruel whims of fate.
Beethoven's Mass in C is a powerful and uplifting choral work that showcases his innovative approach to sacred music with a blend of grandeur, sensitivity, and emotional depth.
