Alcohol and Other Drugs for Rural Primary Health Workers - Mt GambierAre you working with people affected by alcohol and drug use?
This FREE workshop is designed for people wishing to learn more about alcohol and other drug issues faced by their clients and will cover:
- commonly used drugs, their prevalence, effects and interventions to reduce harms
- an overview of the AOD treatment system in SA
- the SA AOD Specialist AOD Treatment Framework
- the role of primary health in supporting the treatment of AOD clients
- evidence based treatment types and settings
- the importance of language and minimising stigma
- comorbidity and complexity in relation to AOD clients
- services provided by AOD NGOs in the Riverland.
It is open to rural and regional GPs, practice nurses, hospital staff, primary health workers and AOD workers new to the field.
