DESCRIPTION | A great tribute to a legend musician. Local blues great Chris Harland leads SLOWHAND in their 7 piece band tribute to Eric Clapton.
SLOWHAND features local guitarist Chris Harland supported by some of Canberra’s finest musicians in a 2-hour celebration of the music of Eric Clapton.
Eric Clapton is one of the world’s greatest guitar players, one of the best-selling musicians with over 280 million record sales, and the only person to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times. He has produced a string of enduring hits over his 60-year career, including Layla, Sunshine of Your Love, Cocaine, Wonderful Tonight and Tears in Heaven. In addition to his prolific solo career Eric was also a member of the super band Cream, and Derek and the Dominos before that.
Originally from England, Chris Harland has performed at festivals around Australia and supported Eric Burdon and the Animals and guitar virtuoso Matt Schofield. Chris has been deeply influenced by Eric Clapton and this is his tribute to the guitar great.

About the Musicians
Chris Harland – guitar & vocals
Originally from England, Chris Harland has performed at festivals around Australia and supported Eric Burdon and the Animals and guitar virtuoso Matt Schofield. Luke Smee – guitar
Luke's versatility has led him to perform with a multitude of bands. Whether he's backing up in Slowhand (Eric Clapton tribute), recreating the iconic sounds of Pink Floyd with Run Like Hell (Australian Pink Floyd tribute) , or jamming with The Three Funkateers, Luke always tries to engage and captivate the audience with the spirit of the music being played.
Peter Kirkup – keyboards
Peter started playing organ at the age of eight. Six years later he had the privilege of sharing a stage with Australian jazz legend James Morrison at the International Exposition in Tsukuba, Japan, in 1985, and hasn't looked back. Peter currently plays festivals up and down the east coast with the Chris Harland Blues Band, tours with Australian Pink Floyd tribute Run Like Hell, and performs with the Australian Commitments Show as well as his own jazz trio.'
Brian O’Rourke – bass
Brian has been providing the low end groove with bands in Canberra and Melbourne since the 1980s, from early Canberra rock outfit Noisy Neighbours to the smooth swing jazz of Combo Combo, and from reggae big band Simmer Down to soulful Americana with Moses Jones and Love in Vain. Brian locks down a groove and creates a deep pocket with the drummer.
Rob West – drums & vocals
Rob has made a name for himself as a sought-after percussionist in the vibrant music scene of Canberra. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, Rob's drumming style is a fusion of precision, creativity, and energy. Whether he's laying down solid grooves for a rock band, adding flair to a jazz ensemble, shuffling his way though rhythm and blues, or driving the rhythm in a funk jam session, Rob's drumming always captivates audiences and elevates the music to new heights.
Jenny Sawer – vocals
Jenny Sawer is an ANU Canberra School of Music graduate and a celebrated vocalist, guitarist, pianist, songwriter, and conductor. Jenny’s soulful, flexible voice is influenced by vocalists such as Etta James, Joni Mitchell, Ella Fitzgerald and Freddie Mercury. She performs solo and with numerous outfits including Run Like Hell (Pink Floyd tribute band), and reggae band Agency Dub Collective.
Varvara Efremova – vocals
Varvara is a vocalist, pianist and producer with a background in classical piano. She has worked as a keyboardist and backing vocalist across various genres, and currently performs with Eric Clapton tribute band Slowhand Australia and pop dance band Parallel Lines. She has a passion for music in all its forms.
