Older Women and Elder Abuse
About
Older women experience elder abuse at higher rates than older men. Addressing elder abuse requires the utilisation of gender and intersectional lenses to understand and recognise the vulnerabilities older women may experience that may place them in harm's way. Addressing these factors can reduce and prevent the abuse. Responses to elder abuse differ depending on who is perpetrating the harm, whether older women are located in residential care or living in the community and from state to state. This webinar provides a context in which to understand the impact of some of these vulnerabilities and their cumulative effect on older women as well as strategies for addressing harm and enabling older women to plan for a future safe from abuse.Location
