YARUN CULTURAL EXPERIENCE - BRIBIE ISLAND NATURE FESTIVAL
About
A guided cultural tour of Yarun (Bribie Island) - Bribie Island Nature Festival
This unique cultural activity will take participants on a guided bus tour around Bribie Island (Yarun) and surrounding areas to experience the rich Aboriginal cultural history in the area. It is developed in collaboration with the Pumicestone Indigenous Employment and Education Council (PIEEC).
The tour, endorsed by the Nugunda Joondaburri Land Trust, is coordinated by PIEEC representatives working alongside Elders and Custodians.
Guests will be guided to culturally significant sites around Bribie Island and will experience traditional ceremony, dance, cultural and bushfood education as well as sight-seeing the beautiful natural landscape of Bribie Island.
PIEEC aims to empower the young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in the Yarun community to help strengthen their ties to culture and foster a greater sense of pride in their identity. PIEEC jarjums (children) will assist as tour guides and provide cultural dances at selected sites.
At the tour’s conclusion you will share a light lunch.
