Teachers + architects + policy + design: Introducing LEaRN
About
The School of Education is delighted to invite you to a Twilight Seminar: Teachers + architects + policy + design: Introducing the Learning Environments Applied Research Network (LEaRN), a research partnership improving the design and use of schools presented by Associate Professor Julia Morris and Adjunct Associate Professor Wesley Imms.
The Learning Environments Applied Research Network (LEaRN) is opening a new hub at ECU.
LEaRN's mandate is to investigate the design, use and evaluation of physical learning environments, from early years education through to formal schooling and into universities and vocational training. Given this broad focus, LEaRN purposefully engages with industry, educators and policy makers, and academics in the design, implementation and use of research. This seminar will overview the importance of diverse partnerships to ensure research is responsive to local needs, how this strategy fits into an international mandate for learning environments research, and how this mandate can be achieved through collaboration. It will describe recently completed and current LEaRN projects on topics such as students’ experiences of learning environments, schools as community hubs, designing for students with disabilities or additional needs, and teachers’ ‘spatial’ professional learning. These projects not only showcase current thinking and practice for learning environments; they invite you to consider how we can work together in WA to improve teaching and learning through clever design and use of spaces.
Registrations and light refreshments will be served in the Building 17 foyer from 3:30pm.Certificate of participation available on request. Please contact us for a discount code if you are an ECU staff member or student.
