Teaching Curriculum Content to EAL/D Learners
About
The School of Education is delighted to invite you to a Twilight Seminar: Teaching Curriculum Content to English as Additional Dialect (EAL/D) Learners presented by Dr Annamaria Paolino.
Classrooms reflect society, and as society has become more diverse and multicultural, so have our classrooms. This means that many of our students have varied cultural backgrounds and speak languages other than English at home and in the community. How do we cater for this linguistic diversity in our mainstream classrooms? Should EAL/D students be taught curriculum content when they do not know how to speak English? Should English be the priority?
This session will provide some insight into what teachers need to consider when catering for EAL/D learners in their classrooms.
Registrations and light refreshments will be from 3:30pm, in the Building 17 foyer.
Certificate of participation available on request.
This event is FREE for ECU Staff and Students; please get in touch with us for a discount code.
