Learn how to turn paper into cloth using Joomchi (Korean Paper Felting) and Momigami (Japanese Paper Cloth) processes. Joomchi and Momigani are both traditional paper strengthening and texturing manipulation process that are used to turn paper into cloth. Learning these techniques will change how you think about paper as a material. Paper cloth can be used for a range of purposes from creative artworks and accessories through to clothing.In this 1-day workshop you will learn:
• Texturing and felting of paper using Joomchi;
• Strengthening and texturing of paper using Momigami;
• Basic paper cordage plying;
• The basics of making kami-ito (traditional Japanese paper thread).
Suitable for beginners and experienced students. A student requirement list will be supplied after booking is confirmed. Specialist papers and products for use on the day are included in the course cost. Additional specialist papers will be available for purchase on the day.
