The Unknown Swimmer is coming home to where its journey began. In a very special performance, Edithvale Lifesaving Club will be transformed by the music, words and visuals of this extraordinary, immersive chamber opera. Born right here in the wintry waters of Edithvale beach, The Unknown Swimmer tells of adversity, challenge and the transformative power of cold-water swimming.The Unknown Swimmer brings together a formidable team of creators and performers. The expressive music of composer Kevin March sets the words of local poet and soprano Judith Dodsworth. Stunning imagery and digital environments are provided by Carrum photographer Jason Reekie and Justin Gardam, with direction by Alyson Campbell. Together with the musicianship of Laila Engle (flute), Campbell Banks (cello) and Louise Devenish (percussion), The Unknown Swimmer is a multi-sensory experience that leaves audiences breathless.
This project is supported by the City of Kingston’s annual Arts Grant program.
