Shirley Treacy Awards 2024
About
Proudly presented by the Royal Academy of Dance, the Shirley Treacy Awards are being held this coming August and September, in Mackay, Townsville, Cairns and Rockhampton.
The Shirley Treacy Awards are a great opportunity for RAD students in these areas to showcase their skills and experience a new format of performance.
Held for the second year in 2024, don't miss this opportunity to be part of this exciting event.
FORMAT
All registered students will participate in an open class in the location that is closest to their current RAD home studio. The open class is adjudicated by an experienced RAD examiner, who will select and announce the finalists after each open class.
Finalists return to the venue that same afternoon, to perform their chosen exam dance or variation as a solo (excluding character dance). Advanced level finalists also perform a contemporary solo that they have learned in the lead up to the Awards. These performances will be recorded by the RAD.
NEW - Following the recording of these performances, all finalists will perform their chosen dance/variation again (and contemporary solo for advanced levels), with a small audience of parents, family, and teachers. This is a great way to celebrate and acknowledge the finalists at the Awards, in a relaxed finalist presentation, from 3pm to approx. 3:45pm.
The finalist recordings will be sent securely to our guest Adjudicators at a later date who will select the prize recipients for each level. These finalist recordings will also be shown/screened at the online Awards presentation which is open for all to attend on Sunday 8 September, where the winners and prize recipients will be announced
