Your Voice Could Change The World - Session Two
About
Slam poetry has been used to amplify the voices that need to be heard to enact change. From climate action, to women’s rights, to mental health advocacy, to preservation of First Nations culture, and everything in between. If everyone was listening to you, what would you want them to hear?Spoken Word SA is the caretaker of the SA leg of the Australian Poetry Slam. Our presenters have shared their words around the country, won prestigious competitions, and have a passion for mentoring new talent. Using the national competition’s rules and structure, participants will learn how to write, perform, and make people want to listen!
Across two workshops, we will cover writing, performance, and what slam poetry is all about. This series will end with a performance where participants will have a chance to practice sharing their work to an encouraging crowd in a friendly, non-competitive setting.
