Measuring Gauge/Adjusting for a different one, with Ann Budd
About
Few of us enjoy knitting gauge swatches. However, a gauge swatch is key to having a sweater (or anything that needs to “fit”) end up the correct size. All too often knitters find themselves with a sweater that’s either too big or too small. Learn how to knit a proper gauge swatch, block that swatch, and how to measure it properly so that there will be no surprises in the size of the resulting sweater. But what do you do when you absolutely cannot match the gauge specified in a pattern? Learn how to adjust a pattern to work for *your* gauge, whether it involves adjusting the numbers in the pattern or simply following the instructions for a different size. It’s all a matter of simple math and ratios.
A worksheet for measuring gauge will be provided, as well as a handout of how to use a conversion factor.
