TWO superb soloists (Paul Wright, Viola and Michel Howell, Flute) join FCO to play music to warm the cockles of your heart .The program takes off with the rich string sound of Vivaldi’s upbeat Concerto Grosso RV 565. It is the perfect opener, leading to Carl Stamitz’s Flute Concerto in G. This rarely played gem of the classic era with elegant tunes, a heart-warming slow movement and virtuoso finale features fabulous flautist Michael Howell. Robert Fuchs’ Serenade 1 Andante and Adagio exude charm and intimacy before we come to Alessandro Rolla’s Concerto for Viola with the amazing Paul Wright as soloist. Rolla was, in his time, so exalted for his virtuosic viola skills that his playing was said to make women faint. Carl Nielsen’s Little Suite for Strings starts in the brooding late romantic style to finish on a champagne cork popping high.For more information call Natalie on 0438 933 250
