Our Guest Speakers
Sarah Armstrong was an award-winning journalist at the ABC before writing three novels for adults, including Salt Rain which was shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award. Big Magic, her first middle-grade book came out in 2022 and its sequel, Magic Awry, csme out in 2023. She lives with her partner, Alan, and their daughter, Amelia, in the NSW town of Mullumbimby, which features (if slightly disguised!) in all her books.
Brent Wilson is an Australian illustrator whose work puts a playful new spin on the classic mid-century cartoon aesthetic. Filled with block colours and loose lines, his work inspires nostalgia for the children's books and advertising campaigns of the 1950s and 1960s. His quirky characters regularly appear in the pages of major national publications, and he also illustrates children's books. Brent most recently illustrated the children’s book Mr Impoppable — written by Trent Jamieson and published by Larrikin House
