Prior to the writing workshop we are offering a free Pitch Party for Sunday workshop particpants only. You will be able to particpate in multiple 3 minute pitches with Marisa Pintado, Meg Whelan, James Layton, Cathy Vallance and Annabel Barker.

Author and Illustrator Briony Stewart pulls back the curtain on the creation some of her latest award-winning picture books and shares some of her tips and processes in this hands-on, full-day workshop. Focusing on tricky areas such as rhyming and cadence, composition, and colour, this workshop will have you scrawling, scribbling and playing with ink in fun, and thoughtful, new ways.Briony Stewart is the author and illustrator of several award-winning books for children, including the ‘Kumiko and the Dragon’ series and ‘We Love You Magoo’ which was a CBCA Early Childhood Honour Book for 2020. Her new book ‘Gymnatisca Fantastica’ has been shortlisted for the 2024 CBCA Book of the Year Awards.
Briony lectures on children’s literature at university and conducts talks and workshops with children across Australia. She loves live drawing challenges, day dreaming and discussing dragons, bunnies and how to tame lions.

What to bring: Sketch book, notebook or paper, a small pencil case of basic drawing materials (or your favorites if you have some) and a pair of scissors.
