When mental health gets personal - an inside look at supporting young people

Mentone Grammar is delighted to welcome the next speaker in our Mentone Stories series, Nic Newling who is a renowned advocate and educator on mental health and suicide prevention and has reached millions of people through live talks and media including Australian Story, Conversations on ABC Radio, and NBC’s The TODAY Show in New York.
Nic will share his personal story outlining the highs and lows of having a mood disorder in school, the challenges of being misdiagnosed, and the grief of losing his brother to suicide. Nic’s presentation will explore the often-hidden experiences of adolescent mental illness, the crucial role of families and schools, and practical suggestions on how to make a meaningful positive difference. This thought-provoking presentation is emotionally impactful, humorous at times, honest, and most importantly, filled with hope.

- Open to: Mentone Stories seminars are free and open to MG parents, staff, and the wider community. This session is most relevant to parents/carers of students from Years 5 - 12, but all are welcome to attend.
