Healthy Bees @ BRB 4.0 (SOLD OUT)
This course is for paid members of Ballarat Regional Beekeepers only. The club provides all of the materials in helping our beekeepers have first-rate biosecurity practices
2 sessions -
1. 2.5hrs in the classroom learning to identify Pests and Diseases we might find in the hive and how to manage them.
2. In an apiary inspecting hives, completing an alcohol wash test, learning how to produce a slide ready to send to one of the two Pathology departments. (45 Elizabeth St, Delacombe)
Whilst on your course you will receive a handout of all the notes from Session 1 and an in-depth handbook dealing with Pests and Diseases in the hive. If you don't have a container to conduct an alcohol wash, we will have one for you. After Session 2 (23rd October 5:30- 7:00) you will receive a slide for testing one of your own hives after which you will mail it to a pathology lab for analysis.
Afterwards send your results, the paid invoice and a feedback form to the club for part-reimbursement
