OGCC WINTER FILM NIGHT 2024 (SOLD OUT)
About
All welcome to our annual Winter Film Night to see the amazing nature doco from Sheree Marris & Jarrod Boord: Melbourne Down Under.
Following the enthusiastic attendance at our Southern Reef evening early this year, Ocean Grove CoastCare are pleased to invite you to a screening of Melbourne Down Under, which unveils the wonderland that is Port Phillip Bay. This stunning natural history documentary will take viewers on an incredible journey of discovery, revealing the city’s best kept secret - Port Phillip Bay - a vibrant and dynamic marine environment.
You’ll meet charismatic marine mammals, deadly jet-powered predators and witness remarkable feeding behaviours that have never been filmed before. It’s a surprising secret that few people know… until now.
Also we will be joined by Deakin Honors student Louise Cairney, whose Marine Biology passion is around marine debris and seaweed. Louise will take us through her current research at the Queenscliff Marine Science Station which focusses on plastic pollution associated with seaweed cultivation. She is exploring potential natural, biodegradable alternatives to the synthetic materials employed currently with the hope of improving sustainability of seaweed farming into the future.
A great night to learn! Light refreshments served. Free, though a gold coin donation to OGCC is appreciated. Book above.
