2024 DDHIRC Research Symposium
About
Join us at the DDHIRC 2024 Research Symposium!
The Annual Darling Downs Health Innovation and Research Collaborative Research Symposium is an engaging day of knowledge sharing and collaboration with a focus on health within our rural and regional areas. It will occur as an in-person event on Friday Nov 1st, 2024 at the Toowoomba Showgrounds. The day provides a fantastic opportunity for health researchers, clinicians and consumers to come together and network, develop a research pitch and hear presentations about health research relevant to our region.
This year's symposium will focus on the perspectives of and innovations in the rural and regional health workforce.
With Keynote presentations:
'Heat, heroes and horseshoes: what it is like working in South West Queensland'
Dr Carl de Wet, Executive Director of Medical Services and Clinical Governance for the South West Hospital and Health Service
‘Health Workforce – is it time for a revolution, not an evolution?’
Professor Lisa Nissen, Director of the EvolveHealth Health Workforce Optimisation Program at The University of Queensland’s Centre for the Business and Economics of Health
Attendees will spend much of the day collaborating in a team to develop a research idea of interest into a pitch for a shark tank. This will be a great networking opportunity which will lead to the option to contribute to a grant application following the event. Projects developed at the research symposium will be able to apply for funding to undertake the proposed research. If you have a research idea and would like to submit a pitch application email DDHIRC@health.qld.gov.au or complete the online form. All pitch applications must be received by October 11 to be considered for inclusion at the symposium. Two $10,000 grants are available to fund research projects developed at the symposium.
Registration is free and includes morning tea and lunch.
Please email DDHIRC@health.qld.gov.au with any questions, or if you register and an unforeseen event occurs which will prevent your attendance.
Registration opens 8:30 AM for a 9:00 AM start.
