About

The Young Australian Film Festival aims to celebrate and empower the next generation of Storytellers.
As young filmmakers, we realised that despite the wide range of film schools across Australia, there were very few film festivals dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging young talent. As a result of these challenges, we created the Young Australian Film Festival, an event for young filmmakers to showcase their work in a forum that is affordable, accessible and inclusive for filmmakers from all walks of life.

The festival features screenings of all the finalists during the day, with a red carpet networking event, followed by the award ceremony that same evening. The awards ceremony itself will feature 14 awards, awarded for various aspects of the film production process, as well as an overall ‘Best Short Film’ award to be presented at the end of the night.
