Silverchain's Silver Learnings series offers accredited professional development sessions to support integrated care across hospital, home, and community.Join our health care experts to learn about evidence-based therapies for primary care patients with respiratory conditions. Our presentation will focus on bronchiectasis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), home services available, potential access barriers and how to address them, and referral pathways.
This free accredited session provides you with 1.5 CPD hours (1 hour educational activity, 0.5 hours for reviewing performance) and includes a buffet dinner and refreshments.

Learning outcomes covered include:
- Implement evidence based therapies to optimise outcomes for patients with bronchiectasis and COPD.
- Summarise community services and resources available for patients with bronchiectasis and COPD.
- Identify the eligibility criteria and referral pathways to access respiratory care in the community (eg Silverchain COPD Support Program and Home Oxygen services) and recognise potential barriers to patients accessing these services.

Our presenters
Our expert presenters will share their knowledge and support you to work through different case studies during the session.
Dr Francesco Piccolo, Silverchain Respiratory Consultant, St John of God Midland Private and Public Hospital Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Specialist
Francesco has a Medical Science degree with first class honours in Biochemistry and an MBBS, both at Sydney University. He completed his training in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the Western Australian Sleep Disorders Research Institute in 2012.
Dr Erin O'Donnell-Taylor, Silverchain GP Liaison
Erin is a General Practitioner with a special interest in the areas of women's and children's health. She is a passionate advocate for the role of primary care, quality general practice training, the welfare of trainees, and system improvement and reform. In addition to her role as a GP Liaison, she sits on a number of committees and advisory groups.
Louise Papps, Silverchain Clinical Nurse Manager
Louise has over 20 years’ experience working in a variety of specialist Respiratory Services across primary and secondary care, with a strong interest in COPD. She delivers respiratory education on behalf of various health networks and was a member of the advisory group for the National Strategic Action Plan for Lung Conditions in 2018.
