GLOBAL BOOK LAUNCH & PANEL DISCUSSION: Contemporary Perspectives on Freud’s Seduction Theory: Revisiting Masson’s ‘The Assault on Truth’
eiseEducation is thrilled to host a global book launch and panel discussion on “Contemporary Perspectives on Freud’s Seduction Theory & Psychotherapy: Revisiting Masson’s Assault on Truth.”
This edited collection brings together the perspectives of a broad spectrum of Trauma experts who reflect on Freud’s Seduction Theory, psychoanalysis, and the reality of child abuse through the work of Dr Jeffrey Masson. Jeffrey Masson’s book, The Assault on Truth: Freud’s Suppression of the Seduction Theory (1984), is arguably the most controversial work on psychoanalysis in the last century. It sparked intense debate within mainstream psychoanalysis but found favour in the emerging international trauma field, ultimately becoming a bestseller. Now, four decades later, a group of international scholars and professionals have revisited Masson’s original work and have drawn lessons from this saga.
In this global book launch & seminar, a panel comprising of Prof Warwick Middleton, Prof Martin Dorahy, Prof Jennifer Freyd, Dr Richard Kluft, Dr John Read and Orit Baduk and others will engage in a discussion about their contributions to the book. Dr Jeffrey Masson will provide the background to his controversial book 'The Assault on Truth: Freud's Suppression of the Seduction Theory'. Dr Kris Rao will facilitate the session.
