Abiy Sahle & Alexander Nettelbeck - The Peace Tune
A selection of uplifting pieces from Ethiopian saxophonist Abiy Sahle's recent album 'The Peace Tune'.
"Over the last few years in the country where I was born, Ethiopia, the civil war has been horrifying for my people. I was inspired to make this album and donate all the proceeds to charity, to deliver the help to the people who really needed it. The music of the album includes four Ethiopian scales, and all the music is related to peace.”
Abiy Sahle comes from Ethiopia where he grew up in family of musicians. Since settling in Melbourne, Abiy has performed with many bands including The JAzmaris and Mahmoud Ahmed, playing saxophone and Ethiopian traditional instruments.
Alexander Nettelbeck is a pianist and musician whose playing encompasses classical jazz, blues, Latin, and contemporary music.
