Wanna know what we're raven about? We've teamed up with new-kid-on-the-block, Urban Winery Fremantle, to bring you a truly special evening with renowned winemaker Bryan Martin from Ravensworth Wines. All the way from Murrumbateman, NSW, Bryan is flying over to host our next wine masterclass on Wednesday 9th October.
Ravensworth has been a favourite of ours for years, and we have our very own Nerd de Vin, Aly, to thank for that! Aly has been a champion of Ravensworth from the beginning, singing the praises of Bryan's natural winemaking methods, unique blends and all-round talent. Naturally, Aly will be on-site at the event to help pour some of his favourite wines alongside the rest of the Old Bridge wine team and Chris Masten from the Urban Winery.
Bryan is particularly known for his deft hand in crafting aromatic whites and complex reds that balance elegance with intensity. His signature wine, the Shiraz Viognier, is a nod to his experience at the iconic Clonakilla, but with his own unique twist – a slightly lighter, more ethereal style that has quickly won over wine enthusiasts and critics alike.
Keep WEDNESDAY 9TH OCTOBER free, as our Ravensworth dinner will be taking place from 6:30-9:00pm. With a variety of delectable dishes on offer, supplied by Urban Winery kitchen, paired with a divine selection of eight Ravensworth wines, this one is definitely not the one to miss! A bit more about the winery...
Bryan's journey began at Clonakilla, a highly acclaimed winery in the Canberra District, where he worked alongside Tim Kirk, one of Australia's most respected winemakers. He honed his craft here as Tim's right-hand-man for nearly 20 years, contributing to the winery's reputation for producing world-class Shiraz Viognier blends.
With an amazing backing behind him, Bryan established Ravensworth in 2001 - a boutique winery nestled in the cool-climate region of Murrumbateman, within the Canberra District wine region. Over the years Ravensworth has gained a reputation for its innovative approach to winemaking and its eclectic portfolio of wines, which showcases the region's leaders – Shiraz and Riesling – as well as shining a spotlight on many others including Pinot Gris, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Gewürztraminer and Sangiovese....all of which will be featured at the event!
Bryan prides himself on the chemical and additive-free processes practiced in the winery as well as his approach to vineyard management which is described as ‘natural forestry principles’. This basically means he allows the vines to thrive, letting the fruits and microflora do their thing.
