The Elder Conservatorium Latin Ensemble is an energetic 18-piece unit formed in 2009 by director and Head of Jazz Mark Simeon Ferguson. The band plays a mix of Mambo, Cha-Cha, Bomba, Son-montuno, Boogaloo and Latin-Jazz from the pens of Tito Puento, Ray Barretto, Lazaro Numa and leader Ferguson alongside ‘latin-ised’ arrangements of songs by celebrated SA artists like Jo Lawry. The group have performed with latino greats Ray Vega (NYC/Puerto Rico), Elio Villafranca (NYC/Cuba), Numa and Fabian Hevia (Sydney/Chile).Location
