Implicit Bias and Diversity Considerations for CPT

Dr. Luzimar Vega is a licensed clinical psychologist specialized in the treatment of trauma-related disorders within specialty populations (e.g., polytrauma; special operations; first responders). She is currently employed at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, FL, as a TBI psychologist and Psychology Rehab Program Manager, where she provides services in English and in Spanish. In addition to this work, Dr. Vega is also employed as a bilingual evaluator in the local community completing specialized evaluations for those with disabilities seeking services from the state. Dr. Vega is also a bilingual Cognitive Processing Therapy trainer and consultant.Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy used to effectively treat PTSD in individual and group settings. The purpose of this virtual presentation is to explore how various diversity factors and concerns related to implicit bias can impact patient engagement and treatment outcomes.
