Supporting Autistic Students in the Classroom - Full Day
About
This full day course explores the unique learning styles and challenges that autistic children experience. It is designed for teachers, support staff, and school leaders who are committed to helping autistic students be successful in their learning in school.
The course considers how autistic children process information differently and how these differences may heighten their experience of anxiety. The course also addresses communication, focusing on both receptive and expressive skills. Participants will also explore sensory processing differences specific to autistic children and its possible impact on the experiences of autistic children. Finally the course will consider the importance of routines in helping autistic children become active and engaged in their school and learning experiences.
Participants in the course will learn how to choose and use strategies and practical supports related to these considerations for their that can be incorporated in their classrooms.
