Cath Rutten & The Obvious Choice
Cath Rutten is a singer/songwriter from Warrandyte, Naarm/Melbourne Australia. She has played some of Australia’s best known festivals including Lost Lands, Splendour in the Grass and Woodford Folk Festival.
She performs regularly with a variety of ensembles and is a regular at Port Fairy Folk Festival, hosting the Big Sunday Sing Out with Jimi Hocking.
In 2024 Cath has released her first album under her own name. The album is a testament to her long-time love of folksy, moody ballads with songs that are close to the bone. For this project she has brought together a stellar band of old mates including Michael Allen and Greg Arnold from Things of Stone and Wood, and Cameron McKenzie (Mark Seymour and the Undertow) who also produced the album.
