Melbourne history talk: Madame Brussels and Little Lon
About
Join Barbara Minchinton as she explores the life of Madame Brussels and Little Lon.Madame Brussels ran Melbourne's most exclusive brothel in the late 19th century. She and the women of Little Lon were judged morally corrupt by the respectable world around them, but their lives tell another story.
Barbara started her working life as a librarian, but ended up working with archaeologists. The Little Lon digs led to histories of the women who worked in Melbourne's 19th Century sex industry. Barbara is the author of two books, 'The Women of Little Lon' and 'Madame Brussels : the life and times of Melbourne’s most notorious woman'.
