First Nations Australian counting systems in the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics for F-6 educatorsIn collaboration with ATSIMA, this session will showcase maths situations in First Nations Australian counting systems, and related content in the maths curriculum and the Maths in Schools online courses. A rich variety of counting systems will be considered plus different number-words and the use of body-tallying. Learning about First Nations Peoples’ counting systems enables students to investigate and develop number sense by connecting culture with mathematics in relevant ways. Participants will be able to access supporting materials such as Teacher Background Information that provides detailed information covered in the webinar.
