How Churches & Community Groups Can Tackle Loneliness
About
Loneliness is a huge problem in modern Australia. And it has crippling effects on people, not just in terms of mental health but physical health and life expectancy. This webinar, organised by Publica (www.publica.org.au) will bring together the work of three organisations concerned with loneliness. Prof. Patrick Parkinson, Executive Director of Publica, will present research on why so many young adults are lonely. Sheridan Voysey, creator of the Friendship Lab (www.friendshiplab.org) will join us from England to talk about his new program to help people find and maintain friends. Nic Mackay of NAYBA, will explain its plans for a pilot program on ‘social prescribing’ through churches – helping lonely people to connect to groups, clubs, churches or other organisations that have activities that interest them.
