Introduction to Restorative Practices in Schools

The philosophy of Restorative Practice views relationships and people as the most important aspect of schools and communities. Schools embracing this philosophy prioritise building and maintaining positive relationships, creating supportive learning environments, and establishing fair, democratic systems across their community. A restorative approach seeks to address the harm caused to people and relationships in the wake of mistake making, and repair that harm with those most affected.Core content includes:
~ Understanding the foundations of restorative practice in schools
~ What it means to have a restorative mindset
~ Neuro-scientific and psychological foundations of restorative approaches
~ Using restorative language, dialogue, & processes to repair harm in a range of settings
~ Circle pedagogy for relationship building
Suitable for: primary & secondary educators and other professionals working with students in a school setting (e.g. social worker).
