PIPER PAEDIATRIC First Response Program
About
The First Response, Basic Life Support Program is targeted for all Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Clinicians wanting to update their skills in Infant and Child Basic Life Support.The program will follow a systematic approach of the underpinning knowledge and skills of the Basic Life Support algorithm including; DRSABCD, medication and fluid preparation required for the first five minutes of a resuscitation, anaphylaxis and choking management in the infant and child. The program will conclude with a short team training simulation to perfect novice to mastery in the skills learnt throughout the program.
All content delivered will be in accordance with the latest updates from the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and ANZCOR guidelines.
6 total CPD hours

This session will cover the following skills but not inclusive to:
- Recognition of an infant or child requiring basic life support skills
- Updates of the ARC Guidelines
- Basic Airway Skills including bag valve mask ventilation, orapharyngeal airway insertion, LMA insertion
- Correct compression depth, rate, recall and ratio
- Medications in the non-shockable pathway
- Choking and Anaphalyxis Management
- Short repeated team training simulation

Refunds
Refunds will be provided at the absolute discretion of RCH and must be submitted in writing. Requests for refunds should be emailed to nets.education@rch.org.au

If the date you wish to attend is fully, booked, please contact us via the Contact Form button below with your name, contact details, program date and ticket type. If a position becomes available, those on the waitlist will be offered a position in order of the list.

To get to the hospital from the city, take
- Tram 59 from Flinders Street Station (in Elizabeth Street)
- Tram 58 from Toorak via William Street, City
To get to the hospital toward the city , take
- Tram 59 from Airport West
- Tram 58 from West Coburg
Tram and train tickets can be purchased from the RCH retail Wood Pharmacy, located in Main Street.
