Australian practitioners will have access to this popular and evidence based MBT training. The concepts underpinning MBT have captured the imagination and interest of researchers, theoreticians and clinicians alike and with an increasing body of evidence for the efficacy of MBT clinicians have innovatively adapted MBT to treat a range of diagnostic categories. Mentalising is such a fundamental human social capacity that it is not surprising that it underlies many of the presentations we see clinically. 

This course will be presented by Professor Anthony Bateman. Professor Bateman developed MBT in the 1990's initially for the treament of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and studied its effectiveness in clinical trials. MBT has since been adapted for the treatment of  families, adolescents, children, parents, ASPD, NPD, C-PTSD and other groups. MBT is recognised by NICE and Cochrane as one of two evidence based treatments for BPD. The developers continue their focus on evaluation and the incorporation of new scientific knowledge into the theory and practice of MBT.
