Meeting the River | Book Reading and River Walk
About
How well do you know a river?
How do rivers flow through our lives?
Join artist Rebecca McEwan on a slow walk and story reading along the bank of Ngankipari/Onkaparinga River. We’ll take a short river stroll to a small clearing to hear Rebecca’s reflections on getting to know the River as a neighbour and as an artist in residence. A reading of the poetic and encyclopedic story What is a River? by Monika Vaicenavičienė will follow.
To finish up the morning you will have the opportunity to write a letter to gift the Onkaparinga/Ngankiparri River as a kind gesture of introduction, connection and thanks.
‘I think that to care for something, you have to love it, to feel a connection to it, and to do that, you have to know it in its entirety… to form a relationship with the nature around us, to befriend it’. - Monika Vaicenavičienė.
