PLEIN AIR with Suzie Riley
About
Suzie Riley draws inspiration from the bush and vast seascapes that surround her home on the Limestone Coast. Living and working on the coast is key to Riley's connection to the landscape. Exploring the duality of nature, her work revolves around the pulse and life of the environment. This plein air session will inspire participants to draw inspiration from the landscape using gouache. This workshop is designed to strengthen your composition and colour choices with a playful addition of texture. We will be working quickly and freely, with an emphasis on capturing memory or a sensation of place rather than an accurate representation. Plein air sketches often work best as a working drawing to record colour, marks or sensations that later feed a studio practice rather than becoming a finished painting, allowing you to enjoy the experience of being outdoors without feeling pressure.
