• Join Steamrail Victoria as we operate the heritage 'Red Rattler' Tait Train out of Glen Waverley during the Lunar New Year and Lantern Festival on Sunday 9th February 2025.

• Sit back in comfort and style onboard our heritage train and wave to lineside photographers and surprised commuters as we travel in style with the windows down for that old-school air con experience. Relive the 20th Century commute on one of Melbourne's most scenic lines, with the Taits doing what they did best from 1919 until 1984.

  Shuttles operate from Glen Waverley Station to Darling Station on a 31 minute return journey.

  One way transfers are also available from Newport or Flinders Street to Glen Waverley in the morning and Glen Waverley to Flinders Street or Newport in the afternoon.

• Come along for a ride on The Red Rattlers for a fun family day out through Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

• 8 x return shuttles will depart Glen Waverley at  11:17am, 11:57am, 12:37pm, 1:17pm, 2:37pm, 3:17pm and 3:57pm & 4:37pm. These will operate to Darling Station and return, passengers will not be able to join/leave the train at Darling.

• NOTE: DUE TO PLATFORM AVAILABILITY THESE TRAIN SHUTTLES DEPART TO AND FROM GLEN WAVERLEY STATION ONLY, PASSENGERS CANNOT BOARD OR LEAVE THE TRAIN AT DARLING.

• One way transfer trips will depart at the following times - 
  Newport (10:01am, Platform 1) or Flinders Street (10:37am, Platform 6) to Glen Waverley arriving at 11:08am.
  Glen Waverley 5:20pm (Platform 2) to Flinders Street arriving at 5:46pm or Newport arriving at 6:10pm.

ON BOARD ACCESSIBILITY

Due to the age of our heritage Tait carriages (over 100 years old), they are not designed with accessibility in mind. Steamrail endeavours to welcome everyone onboard our trains and will ensure wheelchair accessibility can be provided where possible. We are able to host most standard-sized wheelchairs, as long as they are able to be folded up to fit within the doors of our heritage Tait carriages. Due to the design of the carriages, we are unable to fit wheelchairs through the doors and into the sitting compartments, but passengers in wheelchairs which can be folded up can be accommodated so they can still enjoy the ride.
