ABOUT
These school holidays, the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) invites students to participate in a series of ballet classes, led by experienced RAD examiners who are experts in the RAD syllabus.
Classes focus on coaching the syllabus and improving the dancers' skills, technique, musicality and artistry. They are a great way to keep up fitness during the school holidays, prepare before RAD exams, meet new people and enjoy a special school holiday experience.
Don't miss this great opportunity to receive expert tuition from an experienced RAD examiner and improve your ballet skills.
Be quick - classes limited to 25 students each
This intensive is supported by the Regional Arts Development fund. The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Mackay Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
Register ASAP and before Tuesday 1 April at 8am
Please note, students can attend the course even if they don't have full knowledge of their level yet. Students are welcome to attend as long as they can copy/follow along with the other students and don’t expect to be taught the syllabus – the examiners are coaching rather than teaching.

- Coppelia Entrance Solo Class
- This is a fun class held over two days, for students from Grade 4 to Intermediate levels, to learn the Swanhilda entrance solo from the famous ballet, Coppelia. This classic ballet is set in a quaint Austrian village, where Dr. Coppélius, a doll-maker, has crafted a beautiful mechanical doll named Coppélia. She is so realistic that the villagers mistake her as being his daughter. Swanhilda is one of the most beautiful girls in the village, who loves life and her fiancé, Franz. In this entrance solo dance, Swanhilda sees Coppélia for the first time, mistaking her for a real person. Classes taught by Maria Roselli.
- Grade 1 to 3 Character Class
- This is an opportunity for students in these levels, to learn more about the steps from the different character dances, as well as the history and countries of origin of the dances. Class taught by Julie Fleming.
Teacher Viewing
This is an opportunity for RAD teachers to observe the guest tutors, grow their own knowledge and skill, to take back into their own studios. Scroll down for times. Please book in advance, via the button on the right hand side of this page.
