Salvation Army Wills Days
Welcome to The Salvation Army Community Wills Day at Whittlesea City. This day is made possible thanks to the generous support of local Solicitors who donate their time to assist members of our community in having a professionally prepared simple Will.
The cost to have a simple Will prepared is $150 per person or $250 for a couple (husband/wife/defacto) plus an online booking fee of 50 cents.
We are also happy to give you information about leaving a gift to The Salvation Army.

Having a Will is very important. It ensures the people who matter most in your life are taken care of. Without a Will, your estate is distributed according to a legal formula. This might mean your assets don’t end up being distributed according to your wishes.
That’s why The Salvation Army’s Wills Days are so important.
Many people also choose to include a gift in their Will to The Salvation Army. This is entirely your choice however we would be grateful if you would please consider this thoughtful legacy to help us support those most in need in our community. Thank you.

FAQs:
How does it work?
Honoured Friend Solicitors assist the community by donating their time to help people prepare a simple Will.
- This is usually from one spouse/partner to another, from a parent to children, from one person to another, or to one or more charities.
- Spouse/partners must have separate Wills.
- Requests for repeated amendments to the Will prior to signing may incur a fee being charged by the Solicitor.
- Community Wills Days do not include the preparation of Wills where a great amount of property, trusts or complex legal matters such as business assets, overseas assets, self-managed superannuation or life insurance exist (in this case, we suggest you call us on 1800 337 082 to discuss and provide some options).
What if I need other documentation such as an Enduring Power of Attorney?
Your simple Will appointment does not include any other documentation, however our supporting Solicitors are able to assist and discuss fees and options with you. It is then at your discretion if you choose to proceed. If you do require an Enduring Power of Attorney or Enduring Power of Guardianship, please let us know in advance so we can allocate extra time for your appointment.
Do I need to bring ID with me?
Yes, please bring proof of identification (ideally photographic).
Do I have to leave a gift (bequest) to The Salvation Army?
The Salvation Army would greatly appreciate you giving this consideration to enable us to support more people experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, addiction and rapid response to natural disasters and emergencies. Please see how bequests change lives.
What is the Honoured Friend Program?
By leaving a Gift in your Will to The Salvation Army you will be joining a group of like-minded individuals who, like yourself, are committed to ensuring that the kindness and compassion you have lived by will go on helping others now and in the future.
When you let us know that you have included The Salvation Army in your Will, we like to honour your kindness and generosity. You will be welcomed as an Honoured Friend and if you wish, you will receive invitations to special functions, tours and access to many of the programs we run for the Australian community.
Thank you for supporting the work of The Salvation Army and giving Hope where its need most.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to email us or call 1800 337 082.
