Apurba Mukherjee is a bright and talented Tabla player in the world of Indian Classical Music. As a disciple of Pandit Shankar Ghosh, he has performed widely in India and abroad, accompanying well known musicians of the country as well as composing and performing experimental music projects with musicians overseas. Born in Melbourne, Australia, Adrian was based in India for many years, mostly in Calcutta, Mumbai and Dehra Dun. He has undergone intensive training according to the guru-shishya parampara (traditional methods) for more than twenty five years under Pandit Ashok Roy, Professor Sachindranath Roy and Dr. Ashok Ranade. He regularly performs in major concerts in Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta, Bangalore and regionl centres where his playing attracts critical acclaim. He often appears in the media in India and has performed for National Television and Radio along with leading cable television station Zee TV, and has been interviewed by major national daily newspapers. He regularly performs in Australia, has made a number of recordings for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, released two solo recordings and has toured widely in Europe and Asia. As a researcher Adrian has written extensively on Hindustani music, including a highly regarded book on the sarod entitled Inventing the Sarod: A Cultural History (Calcutta: Seagull, 2004). “Adrian is currently the Dr. C.W.W. Kannangara Visiting Professor, University of Visual and Performing Arts, Sri Lanka.
Vinod Prasanna, a distinguished bansuri virtuoso from one of India's renowned flute-playing families, brings over 27 years of expertise in performing and teaching traditional and contemporary Indian music. Residing in Australia, he is celebrated for his emotive melodies and exquisite improvisations, embodying the essence of Indian classical, world, and meditation music.Vinod's extensive performance history includes notable events such as the Folk Dance Festival in Delhi and recitals at Varanasi’s Benares Hindu University. His international tours have spanned countries like France, Japan, and Germany, showcasing his talent and commitment to the Bansuri. Recognized for his artistry, he won the Sahara All-India Flute Competition in 2006 and has performed at significant Australian venues, including the Melbourne Arts Centre and the Woodford Folk Festival. As a recording artist, Vinod has released several CDs, including 'Evening Thoughts' and 'Samaya.' Currently, he collaborates with esteemed musicians in the Indian Jazz fusion ensemble, Brothers. Vinod Prasanna continues to honor a family legacy of over two-and-a-half centuries of Indian music while enriching the global music scene.
