Mezzo-soprano Belinda Paterson is joined by pianist Coady Green for a recital of Britten's much-loved compositions for mezzo-soprano, and a tribute to the singers who performed them. Opening with the beautiful cycle "The Charm of Lullabies" (including two additional recently discovered songs) and the famous Lucretia's Aria "Give Him This Orchid" from "The Rape of Lucretia", the program will conclude with the magnificent, rarely performed cantata "Phaedra", Britten's last major vocal work. The program will also feature Britten's rarely performed "Nocturne" for solo piano. This is a rare and wonderful program, containing a diversity of music from one of the greats of the twentieth century.
