LBC Purim Open House
About
Purim is a festival where Jewish people remember the actions of a heroine named Esther. Traditionally the 'Book of Esther' from the Bible is read in public and a play called the 'Purimspiel' is performed. It has become a festival a bit like Mardi Gras, where everyone dresses up and is supposed to have a good time cheering the heroine in the play, while jeering the villain. The Leo Baeck Centre invites members of the Boroondara community to join us for our Purim celebrations in East Kew on Sunday 16 March. We'll have activities suitable for children from 4pm-5pm, including afternoon tea, and a costume parade from 5pm-5.30pm. The Purimspiel (play) will start at 5.30pm and conclude before 6.30pm. It is suitable for all ages.
