Blackwood Players are delighted to present Comic Potential, a clever comedy that questions where AI stops and humanity begins, and what it means to be human. The play is set in a (remarkably relatable) future where AI and androids are set to replace humans. A community TV studio that produces soap operas, using androids as actors, is one day changed when one of the “actoids” is found to have a sense of humour and can think independently of its programming. The results are very funny, but at the same time giving us something to think about. A talented cast and a terrific script by Alan Ayckbourn, with direction by Greg Elliott.Please note, audience seating is general admission auditorium seating (not cabaret-style), to enhance the connection between our cast and our audiences. We’ve been careful to schedule our shows around mealtimes, & while our bar will be open as usual, we kindly ask that you refrain from bringing outside food or drinks, except water.
